So what does Emma think of Majorca?
I first went to Majorca as an eleven year old with my parents, I've since been back to the Island with my brother and his family, as a group of friends (when I was younger), as a couple, with work and more recently with my husband, daughter and other families. The point of me reeling off this information is to confirm that Majorca really is a holiday destination that has something to offer everyone. The young, the old, the partiers, the sophisticated, the cultured, the beach lovers, I could go on.....
Majorca or Mallorca (which ever way you prefer to spell or pronounce it), is the largest of the Balearic Islands, set off the South East Coast of Mainland Spain in the Mediterraenean Sea. The South Coast is the most liveliest which tend's to be where the young party seekers head in peek summer months, here you'll find Magalluf & Palma Nova. Having said this, both of these resorts are also popular with families & more discerning who like a bit of life early or late in the season.
One of the most popular resorts for families is Alcudia and it is easy to see why. Alcudia is renowned for it's long stretch of golden sandy beach, array of watersports and family freindly bar's & restaurants. There is a small water park here which certainly does the job for younger children, for the more adventerous teenagers there is a larger waterpark in the South of the Island with excursions easily bookable from all resorts.
In addition to this, Majorca has many many more resorts and areas of interest from the market town of Andraix, pretty cove beaches such as Cala Dor to the bustling, sophisticated & stylish city of Palma with it's high class restuarants and shopping area's.
Who would I recommend it to?
You've guessed it! People of all ages whatever they are seeking from their holiday.
Must Do's:- Pirate Night Dinner Show - Fantastic, breathtaking acrobatic show, with comedy food & fun.
- Valdemossa - Small traditional mountain town most famous for Chopin's winter visit, hosting traditional tapas and other authentic Spanish cuisine. You may even bump into Cathrine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas as they have a holiday hideaway here.
- City of Palma - A chance to see the Belevedere Castle, the Cathedral and of course the modern yaughting marina.
Is there a downside?
I can honestly say I can only think of one and that is the walk from getting off the plane to the baggage reclaim. The Airport is so vast that depending on where your plane taxi's you may have a bit of a walk!
