I first visited Florida when I was 7 years of age with my parents. Since being married with children of my own I have been there on holiday 6 times. Florida is a destination full of fun and sunshine all year round. Not only would I recommend it for families with children, but also for couples and the young at heart.
The Parks Many people I speak to who have never been there before find the thought of all those attractions in one area quite intimidating. For this reason I would advise anyone who is planning to visit all the theme parks to do an itinerary before you travel. This enables you to keep track of the attractions you have visited and how many days you have used up on your passes. There are lots of different passes available, but the best pass for Disney is the Premium Hopper as this has been specifically designed for British visitors, allowing you to visit all 4 of the Disney theme parks which are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM studios (which has now changed its name to Disney's Hollywood studios). This pass also gives you 6 extra visits to other disney areas such as the 2 disney water parks and Disneyquest. I could go on forever about all these parks, but Florida is not just Disney. More theme parks which cannot be missed are Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Seaworld, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens and Wet'n'wild. If you are thinking of visiting these parks then the best option would be to purchase an Orlando flexi ticket before you travel, as this allows you entry into all these parks.
Getting Around All these attractions are within easy reach whether you stay in a Disney hotel on International Drive or in Kissimmee. If you stay in a Disney hotel they supply free shuttles to all of their parks. If you stay on International Drive you can get transport to all of the theme parks, and you can also use the I ride trolleys which run up and down the length and only cost $1 no matter how long you stay on it. Driving in Florida is very easy as everything is well sign posted and there are no roundabouts to contend with. So if you wanted to travel to one of the coastal resorts it is very easy to do so. Even though the transport services in Orlando are second to none for convenience and punctuality, having a hire car gives you the freedom to discover the rest of this truly magical State at your leisure.
Eating Out Also both on International Drive and in Kissimmee you will find many restaurants to suit all ages and tastes. To eat out in America is extremely good value for money and one thing to remember is that portions are huge.
Shopping Shopping in Florida is amazing if you love your fashion and designer goods, with many designer outlets located near the main tourist areas.
Other Areas of Interest Clearwater is one of many of the coastal resorts with amazing beaches and nightlife to sample. You can also easily reach Space Coast to visit the Kennedy Space Center which is a fantastic experience.
I have lots more tips and information I could give you, so anything you need to know, please give me a call and I will be happy to help.
