City breaks to Prague, Czech Republic
Wenceslas square The square is one the main squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague. Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. The square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia (also known from the Christmas carol "Good King Wenceslas").
The square is more of a boulevard that slopes upward and is dominated by the Czech National Museum. It now contains many shops, hotels and bars.
Old Town Square A popular tourist attraction, it is a large square that is bordered by some large buildings, most notably the Town Hall Tower and Astronomical Clock, which always gathers a large crowd when it strikes the hour.
It contains a number of bars but they tend to be on the pricey side due to their location.
Prague Castle The castle dominates the city, if you plan to visit, catch a tram up there and then enjoy the stroll back. You can walk through the castle for free, although you will have to pay to enter the buildings. The view out across the city is a must see.
The castle buildings represent virtually every architectural style of the last millennium. The Prague Castle includes gothic St Vitus Cathedral, romanesque basilica of St. George, a monastery and several palaces, gardens and defence towers. Most of the castle areas are open to tourists. Nowadays, the castle houses several museums, including the National Gallery collection of Bohemian baroque and mannerism art, exhibition dedicated to Czech history, Toy Museum and the picture gallery of Prague Castle, based on the collection of Rudolph II.
Charles Bridge The Bridge is a pedestrian crossing of the River Vltava and connects the Old Town to the area below Prague Castle and is always full of tourists. It is 516 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide. It also has three bridge towers, two of them on the castle side and the third one on the Old Town side. The bridge is flanked by 30 statues that were erected around 1700.
