Beaches in Tenerife
Beaches surrounding Tenerife consist of soft bays of black sand; here in the South of the island is where you’ll find wild watersports at the beaches of Playa De Las Americas for those of you looking for something to get your adrenaline pumping, or if your looking for a slower, more carefree day the South of the island also caters that for you. Why not visit Los Gigantes for the day? Where it is an excellent location for snorkelling! If your travelling to the north of the island Puerto De La Cruz’s coastline is covered with an 8-acre lido of pools to compensate for the poor lack of beaches, here you’ll find salty rockpools with lush green palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze. Eating out in Tenerife suits all as it has many traditional canarian meals for you to try out, or if your used to your food at home many international dishes are available widely throughout all bars and restaurants. It’s fairly cheap to eat out in Tenerife, whether it’s a three course meal or a light snack during the hot endless days the choice is ongoing. There are plenty of Spanish alcoholic beverages available if you like to try something different; the Spanish wines are outstanding or if you want something to make your taste buds tingle why not try the local Canarian Rum?
Nightlife
If your looking for the best nightlife on the island Playa De Las Americas is the place to be! From discos to clubs to the mind blowing casino. Although Ibiza is known as the party capital, Tenerife isn’t too far behind, with some of the hottest DJ’s playing throughout the hustling and bustling nightlife of Playa De Las Americas. The nightlife in the other resorts of this island are far more chilled if your interested in quiet evenings; Los Cristianos is great for this with pavement cafes and cosmopolitan vibe. Elsewhere on this tropical island you can catch live music, and fabulous restaurant to spend the warm evenings.
Shopping
The Canary Islands is ideal for shopping for cheap perfumes, tobacco and spirits as it is tax free. And surprisingly mobile phones are astonishingly inexpensive. The main shopping areas tend to be close to the ports and in the tourist areas. Local markets are superb for exquisite embroidery, decorative lacework, hand made jewellery, pottery, basket work and finely carved wooden ornaments, great for picking up souvenirs and gifts for friends and relatives.
Sightseeing and tourist attractions
Loro Parque.
The Loro Parque was originally a Parrot Park, which has grown to be Tenerife’s second biggest attraction. Held here is a fantastic parrot collection, a sea lion show, the worlds largest Penguinarium and the biggest Dolphinarium in Europe, and the best part is the parrots are actually the commentators for the dolphin show! With plenty of animals to see and shows to watch, a day out to the Loro Parque is ideal for those animal lovers out there!
Aqualand.
This water park is bursting full of water slides, foam slides, swimming pools and more! And if your brave enough jump on the wacky boomerang slide, it’s definitely a slide to make you scream! With a free shuttle bus running from Veronica’s Strip in Playa De Las Americas this wet’n’wicked waterpark isn’t too hard to get to. Located in Costa Adeje this brilliant water park is a great day out for all ages!
Mount Teide.
A recommended day out is to take a trip up to the glorious Mount Teide! Travel up to the peak of this enormous volcanic crater by the classic cable cars and appreciate all the spectacular scenery of pine forests and lava flows.And if your luck on a clear day you can catch breathtaking views Gran canaria! This is the Canary Islands most visited tourist attraction and must not be missed! |
