I lived on the island Lanzarote for just over one year, However I go back to the fantastic island on holiday at least twice a year. I lived in the resort of Playa Blanca which is the most Southern Resort on the island but have visited all the resorts in Lanzarote. However I can't pick a favourite as each resort in Lanzarote has something different to offer. Lanzarote is Sixty miles away from the sahara desert giving the island appealing warm breezes and dry climate all year round. There is plenty to do in Lanzarote whichever resort you decide to choose. The island offers fantastic beaches making it ideal for sunbathing and getting that perfect tan, Or theres lots to explore on the island from the Timanfaya National Park and Fire Mountains or discovering the underwater world in the islands only yellow submarine. The real beauty of Lanzarote is there's so much to do in such a small area. You can drive across the island in an hour and twenty minutes.
Who would I recommend it to? I would definitely recommend Lanzarote to people of all ages. This destination has something to offer everyone.
For families there is a breeze which takes the edge off the hot weather and is very safe for children. Costa Teguise is very suited for beach loving families and there you will find the aqua park and an Aquarium both of which are well worth a visit.
Couples who are looking for a relaxing break will appreciate Lanzarote especially in winter when the weather is still good. In particular, Playa Blanca is great for those looking for a peaceful holiday. This exclusive resort has a new marina and harbour where you will find ferry links over to the neighbouring canary island of Fuertueventura. Lanzarote is also known as windsurfing heaven. For those looking for a lively resort Puerto Del Carmen has it all. Ideal for singles and couples looking for a fun packed holiday. Puerto del Carmen has a brilliant mix of laid back and life. The Resort has many nighclubs, bars, restaurants and has one of the biggest beaches on the island. Playa Grande beach has plenty of watersports and has been awarded the blue flag. For all you shoppers head to the Biosfere Shopping Centre which has many stores including Mango and Zara.
Things to see and do Timanfaya national park is absolutely unmissable which includes lunar voyage and experiments and an unforgettabel camel safari. The Island has Rancho Texas Wild Wild themed park with animals from all around the world. This is well worth a visit. Teguise Market is held every sunday this is worth a trip to, where you can barter until your hearts content. The entire village turns into a grand open market this is a must as Teguise was the Capital of Lanzarote and has become one of the most important Cultural and tourist centres on the island.
Handy Hint: Overall Lanzarote is fantastic holiday destination and I would not hesitate to recommend it. However just one thing you need to be careful of is the electrical stores which are found in many of the resorts. In some of these shops no prices are displayed and a receipt or guarantee are not given. There is a well recognised chain of stores on the island which carry the name of Visanta so if you want to buy any electrical applicances I would recommend you buy from there.
For more information on Lanzarote give me a call on the number above.
